According to Baba's teachings in Chapter 19, what does a Guru truly expect from a disciple?

📖 Chapter 19

Drawing from his own experience, Sai Baba taught that a true Guru does not desire material things from a disciple. Instead, a Guru expects the disciple's inner qualities and commitment. As Chapter 19 explicitly states, 'Even if the Guru is very powerful, he expects only the disciple’s wisdom; strong faith at the Guru’s feet and the strength of courage which is patience.' Baba used the analogy of a gem and a stone being polished; both undergo the same process, but only the gem becomes a brilliant jewel. This implies that the Guru provides the process, love, and protection, but the disciple must bring their own inherent potential, along with unwavering faith and patience, to truly benefit from the Guru's grace.
